Description

The chapter project is designed to be a learning experience for you as well as to be a way for you to contribute back to the CNT program and your fellow students. You will work in groups of your own choosing on one of the chapters from the book and will be responsible for several things surrounding that chapter.

Deliverables

  • Corrected/updated/improved test questions for the chapter
  • A 10-15 minute in-class presentation on the key points from the chapter
  • A study-guide wiki page with key points and notes from the chapter

Updated Questions

Your group will be provided with a bank of test questions from the chapter in Moodle GIFT format. You are responsible for verifying the questions and answers are accurate. You also need to make sure that the questions cover all of the important material from the chapter, if not you need to write/add questions to the pool that cover the missing material. Questions should all have the correct answer cited with a brief explanation (about one sentence) and the page number from the book where more information can be found. Questions are due at least one class session before the chapter is covered in class.

For more information on writing and editing questions see the Writing Moodle Questions and Editing Moodle Questions pages.

Presentation

Your group will need to develop a 10-15 minute presentation covering the key points from the chapter. You will present this in class at the beginning of the period on the day the chapter is scheduled to be covered. You may use PowerPoint and/or demonstrations with a virtual machine. You should plan to practice your presentation beforehand so that it goes smoothly, you will not need to allow time to answer questions as the instructor will do that during their presentation. The presentation is due in class on the date your chapter is being covered.

Wiki Study Guide

Your group should develop a wiki page which highlights and explains the key points, important concepts and commands covered in your chapter. This page should be suitable for use as a study guide when students are reading the chapter the first time or for students reviewing material to prepare for the final exam and skills exam. The study guide is due one week after the in class presentation.
