Small Business Security!!! I will be doing comparison of the two network vendor's products for my Small Business. The comparison is going to be with Cisco Systems and Juniper Networks. I will be comparing prices of Router, Switches, Network Security Appliance, Wireless Access Points, and End-User Security Software.

Business Security

This Business had 50 users and couple of server, but they need good network for their business. They also want the network with Wi-Fi so users can user laptops or phones. The IT guy also wants good security features to implement on network as network grows and need different types of security standards.

Cisco Systems

Here is all the Cisco Systems Hardware for Network Infrastructure

  • Cisco 1921 ISR (Router) - $1,160
  • Cisco Catalyst 2960 (Switches) - $753 (2)
  • Cisco Catalyst 2960 PoE (Switch) - $1,250
  • Cisco ASA 5510 IPS Edition (NSA) - $4,050
  • Cisco Aironet 1260 (WAP) - $870 (2)
  • Cisco Security Agent (EUS) - $44 (50)

Total Cost of Cisco Systems = $11,906

Juniper Networks

Here is all the Juniper Networks Hardware for Network Infrastructure

  • Juniper J2320 (Router) - $1,750
  • Juniper EX2200 (Switches) - $1,177 (2)
  • Juniper EX2200 PoE (Switch) - $1,850
  • Juniper IDP-75 (NSA) - $5,604
  • Juniper AX411 (WAP) - $553 (2)
  • Juniper Security (EUS) - $25.20 (50)

Total Cost of Juniper Networks = $13,924

Features

This both vendors have same or close feature sets in their products and both have same products portfolio in networking and security. However, Cisco have bigger market share in routers and wireless, then Juniper.

Conclusion

Overall I think that these both vendors have a lot to offer and have same products that these Small Business need. Having knowledge in Cisco systems and knowing their products and how they all work is good skill to have and not having to learn more to use other vendors products. Even though in this Scenerio Cisco is little cheaper, but it might very in real world experience.
