Router Modes

Configuring a Cisco Router

Step 1.

First you need to be connected to a router on a console port 0 using a rollover cable. The other end is connected to COM1.

When you load hyperterminal you will have to set the device interface to COM1 to properly access the router.

Step 2.

How to configure a router

To configure the router you need to enter global configuration mode. When in global configuration mode you can change the router name set passwords, set MOTDs and turn off and on interface and serial devices.
