Chapter 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 Lab Command List

Show ip Interface Brief: Shows which interfaces have IP access lists applied in a brief format.

Enable: directs you into privileged mode.

Configure Terminal (config t):

Exit: returns 1 mode down

?: shows list of commands in certain modes.

Hostname (name here): name of device.

No ip domain-lookup: disables DNS lookup

Enable secret class: Enables password for privileged mode.

No enable password: Disables password for privileged mode.

Banner motd &: Applies banner to accessing the device.

Line console #: Console configuration mode.

Line vty # #: (Telnet) interface configuration mode

Interface fastethernet #/#: Accessing configuration of a FastEthernet port

(while in interface configuration) Ip address AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD: Ip address and subnet address of port.

No shutdown: Activates the port.

Description (name here): names port (for a reason)

Clock rate (then #): speed of port (for serial)

Interface serial #/#/#: Accessing configuration of Serial port.

End: back to user mode.

Copy running-config startup-config: Saves settings into NVRAM.

Ping: Tests IP connectivity to a remote device.

Show version: shows the IOS information of the switch or router, as well as the uptime.

Show interfaces (interface type here): Shows the statistics of interface

Show run: Short for show running-config; shows the configuration currently running on the router.

Traceroute (address of device you want traced): Tests a connection to a remote device and shows the path it took through the internetwork to find the remote device including hops and IP addresses of those hops.

Tracert: same as above

Erase startup-config: Clears NVRAM and startup configurations to defult.

Show ip route: Displays the IP routing table.

Chapter 2.8.1 and 2.8.3 Lab Command List

Debug Ip routing: allows user to debug current problems with the device.

Logging synchronous: Stops messages from overwriting your input.

Exec-timeout (minutes [seconds]): sets the time out for console connection in minutes and seconds.

No debug ip routing: turns off debugging process.

Ip route (network address) (subnet address) (exit-interface): for static routing

Ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 (ip address or interface): default static address.

Chapter 4.6.1 Lab Command List

Router rip: Enables RIP protocol on the router

Network (network address): tells the protocol what networks to connect to and show to other routers.

Chapter 5.6.1 Lab Command List

Debug ip rip: Displays information about RIP packets being sent and received through the router interfaces.

Undebug all: Disables all debugging processes

No router rip: Disables router RIP protocol.

Passive-interface (interface type): An interface that will not send network updates to other devices.

Show ip protocols: Shows protocols, timers that are with each routing protocol.

Default-information originate:

Clear ip route:

Chapter 7.5.1 Lab Command List

No ip cef:

Version 2: Activates version 2 of RIP protocol.

No auto-summary: Disables summarization.

Auto-summary: Enables summarization.

Chapter 8.4.1 Lab Command List

Shutdown: Turns off an interfaces in Administratively down mode.

No ip classless: Disables classless setting.

Ip classless: A global configuration command used to tell a router to forward packets to a default route when the destination network is not in the routing table.

Chapter 9.6.1 Lab Command List

Router eigrp #: Turns on EIGRP in the router.

Show ip eigrp neighbors: Shows neighboring routers that run EIGRP

Bandwidth #: Applying a speed to a certain Interface

Show ip eigrp topology:

Show ip eigrp topology (Network address): Gives information for the network address.

Interface Lo# or loopback#: Makes an loopback interface (primarily for troubleshooting).

Ip summary-address eigrp # (network address subnet address): Configure manual summarization.

Redistribute static: Includes static route into EIGRP updates.

Chapter 11.6.1 Lab Command List

Router ospf #: Enables OSPF protocol on the router.

Network (ip address)(wildcard mask)(area ID): used to Network for the OSPF protocol.

Show ip ospf: Shows detailed information on current conditions of OSPF protocol.

Show ip ospf interface: Shows interfaces that are configured for OSPF.

Show ip ospf neighbor: Shows neighboring devices that are running the OSPF protocol.

Router-id AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD:

Clear ip ospf process: Clears OSPF from device.

Ip ospf cost #: Adds a cost to the interface or route.

Auto-cost reference-bandwidth #:
